InStream is delivered to desktops “on demand”. The user simply clicks a web link and InStream is sent to the client computer. The application runs only in memory space and disappears as soon as it is closed. InStream works on all major platforms: MAC, Windows, Linux, or Sun. With InStream, IT does not have to install software or upgrade client computers – ever. InStream is not associated with any browser.
Every InStream player maintains a direct relationship with the Furnace server, receiving real-time updates to channel and asset information. As well, administrators can control and report on every aspect of a media viewing session.
InStream is independent of all web pages and programs on the desktop. Users have full control over the player’s size and location, can force it to be “always on top”, and even follow or override spaces.
InStream provides a full user interface for selecting live or playback channels (with real-time EPG updates) and for viewing VoD assets with frame accurate forward and reverse and access to bookmark metadata.
Whether the client is watching one or many streams, the VF Conditional Access module provides secure viewing to all streams on the network.
