Application Overview
VBrick network appliances are low cost, high quality video and audio
encoders/decoders. VBricks enable the transmission and delivery of
DVD-quality video and CD-quality audio signals over standard switched
Ethernet, ATM, T1/E1, xDSL, satellite, or microwave networks. VBricks are
MPEG compliant and support full motion 30fps NTSC and 25fps PAL video and
stereo audio via standard composite or S-video connectors. VBricks provide
true television quality video - while only using minimum network bandwidth.
VBricks represent a complete solution -- for live DVD quality television,
video on demand, low bandwidth Internet streaming, and high quality
store-and-forward television, and two-way interactive television.
Streaming Video
VBricks have been optimized to stream "real-time/full motion" video and
audio over networks to PCs running the award-winning StreamPlayerII™
software or to other VBricks connected to TV monitors. Users can
view, capture, and even edit video right at their desktop. VBricks support
industry standard IP Multicast for streaming video to any number of PCs in a
company, enterprise, school, hospital, etc. By using video compression and
network protocol standards such as MPEG-1, MPEG-2, IP, DiffServ, RTP, and
through revolutionary live transcoding, VBrick video can be viewed anywhere
at any time, and are compatible with a variety of viewing programs such as
Microsoft® Windows Media Player and legacy systems like Cisco
IP/TV.
Video On Demand
Video on Demand can mean many things to many people. At VBrick, the
answer is simply 'YES'! True DVD-quality video anytime you want it, on your
PC or your TV. Live and Stored. Want to watch live TV on your desktop?
No problem. Want to watch a stored video at any time. No problem. Want to
view video over the Internet? VBrick has the solution.
Interactive Conferencing
Vbricks are available as full duplex appliances codecs for interactive
conferencing over networks. The low latency design permits users to have a
natural two-way conversation with TV-quality video and CD-quality audio.
Security & Monitoring
VBricks are ideal for remote video security and monitoring, such as along
highways and within buildings. Locate VBricks anywhere and view true
TV-Quality video on TV monitors and on PC screens anywhere. Control
Pan/Tilt/Zoom cameras over the network. You can even webcast your live
video using VBXcoder, and archive the video frames using VBCap.
Easy to Use and Scalable Too
Enhancements such integral IR remote control ports allow users to view
programs or set up video conferences over an IP network at the click of a
button (i.e. video phone). VBricks can even be used as a billboard for
announcements - meeting agendas, important messages, etc. Any number of
VBricks can be added to the network - the only limitation is bandwidth.
Compact and Reliable
VBricks can be placed anywhere because of their small size. Locations
include mobile TV carts, outdoors for surveillance, or anywhere you can
place a camera. Designed from the ground up for MPEG encoding and decoding
they do not suffer the reliability problems associated with PC-based
systems.

Other solutions on the market today are expensive and have a tendency to
