T-vips’ Ibc Highlights Include Launch Of World’s First Integrated Jpeg2000 Solution For Sd, Hd And 3g Hd Video Transport
“I’m particularly pleased to be able to extend our lead in the JPEG2000 video transport space at IBC 2009,” says Johnny Dolvik, CEO, T-VIPS. “This is a technology that we pioneered, being first to launch, ship and deploy. It’s really exciting to launch our second generation products while our first generation solutions are still industry leaders. Not only do we lead in functionality, but by offering the widest choice of JPEG2000-based video gateways we provide solutions for all professional contribution and distribution applications.”
Launch of 2nd generation JPEG2000-based video transport solutions
IBC 2009 sees T-VIPS launch its second generation JPEG2000-based video transport solutions handling SD, HD and 3G HD (1080p/50/60). Visitors to the T-VIPS IBC stand will be able to see the industry’s widest and most powerful range of JPEG2000-based video transport solutions.

T-VIPS’ on-stand demonstrations will include the TVG430, which recently powered a JPEG2000 IP-based contribution system for a live 3D broadcast of robotic surgical procedures in Korea between the National Cancer Center (NCC) and the National Information Society Agency (NIA). It was the first time that T-VIPS’ JPEG2000 IP video gateways have been deployed for such a purpose, enabling an audience of doctors and medical students to watch a ground-breaking 3D broadcast of HD format medical imaging. The TVG430 is part of the T-VIPS Video Gateway suite; a line of compact, powerful and cost-effective products designed for the real-time contribution and distribution of broadcast quality video over IP networks.
Global launch of T-VIPS DVB-T2 gateways
T-VIPS extends its leadership in digital terrestrial television by introducing a DVB-T2 gateway, a new member of the award-winning cProcessor product range. This essential building-block plugs an important market gap in DVB-T2, enabling operators to launch DVB-T2 transmissions and take advantage of the 30-50% bandwidth advantages offered by this new transmission technology.
European launch of Seamless Monitoring Switch
T-VIPS strenghten its position in monitoring and switching through the European launch of the CP541 Seamless Monitoring Switch. Typical applications for the CP541 include digital terrestrial and satellite broadcasting systems requiring monitoring and switching between redundant network paths. The CP541 provides intelligent monitoring and switching to protect both the content owner and the operator.
“By providing the industry with market leading solutions to increase the efficiency of distributing SD, HD, 3G HD and 3D content and enabling DVB-T2, T-VIPS is playing an important role in the most exciting developments in broadcasting today. These developments ensure that T-VIPS continues to help its customers deliver next-generation TV services such as HDTV, high quality live sports, event coverage and localised content, with increased efficiency, flexibility and at high-quality,” concludes Johnny Dolvik, CEO, T-VIPS.
